Description

The German mechanical engineering company Trumpf, active in machine tools and laser technology, has announced the reduction of around 1,000 jobs worldwide, including around 430 at its German sites in Ditzingen, Gerlingen, Leonberg-Höfingen and Hettingen in Baden-Württemberg. The main areas affected are production and administration.

The job cuts are part of a comprehensive cost-cutting program in response to the ongoing global economic downturn and falling order intake. The company has previously tried to secure jobs by reducing working hours and reducing salaries.

The reduction is to be as socially responsible as possible. Exact measures such as redundancies, transfers or natural fluctuation are still being coordinated. Discussions with the works council are ongoing.

Trumpf employs around 19,000 people worldwide, including over 9,500 in Germany.
