The Romania retail company Remarkt Magazine announced the decision to close is supermarket in Arad and to dismiss 122 people by 30 June 2025. The decision follows the termination of the lease contract, at the request of the owner of the commercial space.
According to the notification sent by the company, the new owner of the property does not express his intention to continue the lease, which directly leads to the closure of the unit.
The company officially notified the National Trade Union Realitatea Real (Sindicatul National Realitatea Real) about the collective redundancy. A memorandum on the collective redundancy plan has been drawn up, detailing the reasons, the list of posts affected, and the measures proposed to mitigate the impact on employees. The trade union has ten calendar days to propose alternative solutions to limit the number of redundancies.
The company's representatives have expressed their willingness to work with the social partners to better manage this process. In Arad County, the unemployment rate has reached its highest level in eight years, currently standing at 1.91%. The gradual increase started in 2024, from 1.1%.
By the end of 2023 the company had a workforce of 391 employees.
