Description

Santana Motor, a Spanish vehicle manufacturer currently owned by the regional government of Andalusia, has signed an strategic joint venture with two Asian firms (Zhengzhou Nissan and Anhui Coronet) to reopen the historic Santana Motor plant in Linares (Jaén) in the last quarter of 2025. The venture involves the creation of 200 jobs—150 in manufacturing and 50 in administration.

The factory will assemble next-generation 4x4 vehicles, combining traditional off-road durability with modern hybrid (PHEV) and diesel technologies, and aimed at markets in Europe, Africa, and the Americas. The partnership, endorsed by local authorities and involving a 5% stake from Santana Motors, seeks to revitalise an area long burdened by industrial decline and soaring unemployment. The plant had previously closed in 2011.
