Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.

Puma, the German sportswear company, has announced a global restructuring plan involving the elimination of 500 jobs worldwide.
Around 150 jobs of the 500 will be cut at the Puma headquarters in Germany.
The layoffs come as part of a broader cost-cutting programme aimed at improving profitability, following weak demand in key markets such as the United States and China. The company will also close selected unprofitable stores and reduce staff through a combination of voluntary severance, natural attrition, and not refilling vacant positions. Puma emphasised that no forced layoffs are planned and that the job cuts will be managed in a socially responsible manner.
Founded in 1948, Puma employs approximately 21,000 people worldwide and is a major player in the global sportswear market (its products are distributed in over 120 countries).
