Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.

ArcelorMittal is a global steel producer with its headquarters located in Luxembourg. On the 23rd of April, it has announced the suppression of around 600 jobs in their "North cluster" sites. This decision affects the sites of Dunkerque, Florange, Basse-Indre, Mardyck, Mouzon, Desvres and Montataire.
There is a crisis in the steel industry in Europe but the Arcelor's management justifies these job cuts by the lack of competitiveness of steel in Europe and the transfer to India of certain support functions from all its European sites. Arcelor invests massively in India and Brazil and has suspended its decarbonization investment plans in Europe at the end of 2024, notably in Dunkerque where it had planned to invest €1.8 billion with €850 million in state aid. The CGT union indicated that Arcelor employs around 20,0000 people in Dunkerque. The trade unions alerted on the future of the company in France.
