Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.

Danone Germany, which operates in the food and nutrition sector, is planning to close its milk plant in Ochsenfurt (Bavaria) by the end of 2026, resulting in the loss of around 230 production jobs.
The company cites permanently low capacity utilisation, changing consumer behaviour, and high production costs compared to other locations as the reasons for this. At the same time, Danone plans to invest in its Fulda site, where infant and medical nutrition will be produced in future. Social plans, further training programmes, internal transfers to other sites, and cooperation with the Federal Employment Agency for external placement are planned.
The works council is negotiating fair solutions. Local politicians are criticising the decision and pledging support for the employees.
Danone operates in four business areas: Fresh dairy, plant-based products, natural mineral water and soft drinks, and early childhood and medical nutrition.
