European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
As announced on 30 September 2024, the development service provider Bertrandt plans to cut between 800 and 1,200 jobs in Germany. The Tappenbeck site near Wolfsburg is particularly affected, with 600 job cuts in the Digital and Physical Engineering segments.
The company cited several reasons for this decision, including shifts in the automotive market due to new competitors, evolving needs of automotive manufacturers, and emerging trade disputes. Work at the locations has decreased more quickly than anticipated. Additionally, some automotive companies have relocated projects abroad.
Globally, the company employs 14,500 people, with around 10,800 of them in Germany.
Updated, 26/05/2026 The job cuts announced in September 2024 were largely implemented. However, additional reductions followed, resulting in a total of 1,344 jobs being cut in Germany until May 2026. These developments are driven by rising losses resulting from the continuing crisis in the automotive sector, as well as trade conflicts linked to the Iran conflict.
