European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Bosch Rexroth Electronics, a German subsidiary of Bosch and manufacturer of drive and control technology, announced 110 job cuts to relocate Bosch Rexroth's electronics production from Erbach to Lohr am Main, Bavaria, Germany.
On 17 May 2023, the company announced that it would cut around 110 jobs at its Erbach site by mid-2025. According to the company, Erbach will focus more on the development in the future. The reason behind the job cuts are extensive restructuring measures, including the creation of 100 new jobs at the Lohr site (Bosch-2022-DE). The company had announced in July 2022 that it would realign the four global sites of its automation business in Germany, Slovenia and China for further growth.
The company and the employee representatives have reportedly concluded a social plan and a reconciliation of interests. The negotiations on job cuts have been concluded as of 17 May 2023 and the staff adjustments will now be implemented step by step through measures such as internal transfers, severance offers as well as early retirement schemes and partial retirement. Employees affected by the layoffs will be supported to find a new job through qualifying measures.
With a presence in more than 80 countries and 29,600 employees worldwide, Bosch Rexroth generated sales of around €5.2 billion in 2020. In Germany it employs 5,400 people.
Bosch has also recently offshored 4 other plants, one in Lohr am Main (Bosch-2022-DE), one in München-Berg am Laim (Bosch-2022-DE), one in Bühl (Bosch-2022-DE) and one in Murrhardt (Bosch-2022-DE).
